It’s the metrics, stupid

So I spent the morning at a teaching symposium workshop thingy that focused on importing asian teaching methods into the U.S.  Remember that this is a group of math teachers.  During a demonstration of a lesson module, the class was asked to solve a problem.  It took a lot longer than one would hope.  The person running the symposium told me that in a national test, only 19% of American teachers had gotten the question right.  Let’s see how well you can do with it.  Answer after the jump.

You have 3/4 of a liter of milk and need to split it between five people.  How many liters of milk does each person get?
